Ylang-ylang (Cananga odorata) is a tropical herb native to countries of Philippines, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and parts of Australia, The Ylang Ylang Essential Oil is extracted from the flowers of the ylang-ylang tree grown in Madagascar through steam distillation. Ylang Ylang Essential Oil has a deep floral and fruity aroma that is often used as both top notes and base notes in perfumes. It promotes relaxation and mood upliftment through aromatherapy and is also used topically to treat a variety of skin conditions.
Application
• Diffuse Aroma: Aromatherapy using ylang-ylang can ease stress and anxiety and enhance mood. It acts by lowering blood pressure and heart rate. It is traditionally used as a natural aphrodisiac as well.
- You can diffuse a few drops of the oil with water in an automatic diffuser or use an aroma lamp or reed diffuser for similar effects.
- You can introduce ylang-ylang to your skincare by adding it to your skincare products in the ratio of 5 drops per 15 grams of the product.
- Massage a blend of 7-10 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil in 15 grams of transport oil on your body to achieve these effects.
- The oil can also be added to baths with a ratio of 4-7 drops per carrier.
- Alternatively, you can dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 200g of boiled water with 3-5 drops of the essential oil and use it for douching the skin.
- Add 5 drops of the essential oil to 2 tablespoons of warm carrier oil and massage it on your scalp for enhanced hair health.
- You can also add a few drops to your shampoo to achieve similar results.
- Use an oil blend of 4 drops Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil, 4 drops Sandalwood Essential Oil, 4 drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil, and 2 drops Bergamot Essential Oil in a carrier oil of your choice to massage your body.
- For acne, wounds, rashes, and boils, apply a blend of ylang-ylang with tea tree in a carrier oil on the affected areas.
- Use a blend of ylang-ylang, lavender, and sage in a carrier oil to massage around the lower abdomen and the back to ease discomfort.
- Add the Ylang Ylang Essential Oil along with witch hazel or white vinegar to a glass bottle and shake gently to mix. Add water to dilute the mixture if needed and spray it in the corners of your house.
- Do not use essential oils internally.
- Do not apply directly to the skin; always dilute with a carrier oil.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
- Do not use citrus oils before exposure to UV light.
- Use only pure essential oils; avoid synthetic fragrances.
- Avoid prolonged exposure without ventilation.
- Store essential oils and carrier oils properly to avoid degradation and rancidity.
